Understanding career strain

Career strain shows up in many forms: burnout, a role that no longer fits, a transition you did not choose, or a balance that tilted all the way toward work. Left alone, it tends to spread into sleep, mood, and relationships.

Often it looks like being great at a job that is quietly costing too much.

Signs & Symptoms of Career Counseling & Work-Life Balance

  • Sunday dread that starts earlier each week
  • Running on empty no matter how you rest
  • A role you have outgrown or never chose
  • Work thoughts crowding out everything else
  • Success that does not feel like yours
  • Knowing something needs to change but not what

How we help with career and work-life balance

We sort out what is situational, what is a pattern, and what actually matters to you. Then we work the practical side, from decisions and boundaries to transitions, while making sure your wellbeing is not the cost of your ambition.

Work can fit your life instead of consuming it. Clarity is closer than it feels right now.

Where to start

Career coaching covers the practical side: pivots, job searches, interviews, and balance. If work stress has tipped into burnout, anxiety, or something heavier, individual counseling is the better door.

Questions, answered

A few of the things people ask before getting started. Anything else? Bring it to your free consultation.

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions are private pay, and current rates are listed on our pricing page. Every counselor on our team also keeps a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients with financial constraints. Your free consultation is a good time to ask about cost and fit.

Do you take my insurance?

Yes, some of our counselors accept Aetna for individual counseling. This currently includes Kristin Smart, Travis Kern, and Raven Lucas. For all other services, Being Wellness Therapy is private pay and out-of-network. We can provide superbills if you'd like to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Aetna coverage applies to individual counseling only; couples counseling and coaching are private-pay.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Our team is made up of Licensed Professional Counselors, and counselors do not prescribe medication. If medication could be part of your care, we can coordinate with your physician or psychiatrist, or help you find one.

How long until I start feeling better?

It varies, and anyone who promises a timeline is guessing. Many people notice small shifts within the first several sessions, and your counselor will check in regularly so you always know how things are progressing.

How do I get started?

What is the difference between career coaching and career counseling?

Coaching is practical and forward-looking: transitions, searches, interviews, balance. Counseling goes deeper when work stress has tangled with burnout, anxiety, or identity. The free consult helps you pick, and you can always switch.

Can you help with my resume or interview prep?

Yes, through our career coaching service, which covers resumes, interview preparation, and transition strategy.
