Understanding life transitions

Some transitions are chosen and some just happen: a move, a new role, an ending, a milestone birthday. Even good change can leave you disoriented, and sometimes the hardest part is not knowing what you want next.

Often it looks like everything being technically fine while feeling strangely unmoored.

Signs & Symptoms of Life Transitions & Purpose

  • A change that has scrambled your routines or identity
  • Feeling stuck between an old chapter and a new one
  • Restlessness you cannot quite name
  • Decisions you keep deferring
  • Wondering what the point of the grind is
  • Envy of people who seem to have it figured out

How we help with life transitions

We help you slow down enough to hear what you actually want, separate it from what you have been told to want, and take real steps toward it. Sometimes that is deep work, sometimes it is momentum. Often it is both.

Feeling lost is often how a better direction starts. Clarity comes faster with a thinking partner.

Where to start

If the change is weighing on you emotionally, individual counseling gives it the room it needs. If you're mostly looking for clarity and forward motion, life coaching is built for exactly that. Not sure which? The free consult sorts that out.

Questions, answered

A few of the things people ask before getting started. Anything else? Bring it to your free consultation.

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions are private pay, and current rates are listed on our pricing page. Every counselor on our team also keeps a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients with financial constraints. Your free consultation is a good time to ask about cost and fit.

Do you take my insurance?

Yes, some of our counselors accept Aetna for individual counseling. This currently includes Kristin Smart, Travis Kern, and Raven Lucas. For all other services, Being Wellness Therapy is private pay and out-of-network. We can provide superbills if you'd like to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Aetna coverage applies to individual counseling only; couples counseling and coaching are private-pay.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Our team is made up of Licensed Professional Counselors, and counselors do not prescribe medication. If medication could be part of your care, we can coordinate with your physician or psychiatrist, or help you find one.

How long until I start feeling better?

It varies, and anyone who promises a timeline is guessing. Many people notice small shifts within the first several sessions, and your counselor will check in regularly so you always know how things are progressing.

My life looks fine on paper, so why do I feel like I need therapy?

Feeling unmoored or unfulfilled during life transitions is one of the most common reasons people start therapy, even when everything looks perfectly fine from the outside. You do not need an external crisis to justify wanting a clearer sense of direction.

What if I do not know what I want?

That is the work, not a prerequisite. You do not need to arrive with a goal. Getting clear on what you actually want is most of the journey.
